Staffordshire based artist Rose Jones (b. 1960) completed a degree in printed and woven textiles before working freelance as a surface pattern designer.

Following a break to care for her family Rose has returned to drawing and painting, exploring new ideas in making artwork and improving her practice.

Her work explores colour, form, atmosphere, often with decorative elements referring to her interest in pattern and design. Living in rural Staffordshire her love of the natural world is evident as is her appreciation of the garden, as both habitat and art form.

With a love of observational drawing Rose prefers to draw from life, however photographic reference taken by the artist in situ is also used in the studio.

In 2023 she was selected to be a Pod Artist on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year and spent a day in Liverpool drawing and being filmed on Albert Dock. This was shown as part of series 9 in January 2024.

Recent work combines a love of gardening with Rose's interest in found objects as some of the many pieces of blue and white pottery and china unearthed while gardening are subjects in still life.
